A long time coming

A while back, I was going through some fabric I had stored in the basement, and I found a quilt top. It was nothing fancy...just some cheater panels that had been sewn together to make a top. When I bought the fabric, I just loved it, but that was back in...are you ready for this...1992!! At least that's the date on the selvage of the fabric! I seem to remember it got sewed together sometime before 1999, but then it got forgotten. So after I found it, I sent if off to Joanne and this week I got the binding on it. So it's another finish for January. It's just a little small for my king size bed, but it would be perfect on a queen or a double.

Here is a closeup of the beautiful quilting Joanne did. (Photo borrowed from Joanne)

That came out very nicely. It looks good on your bed too.

Funny how the old always seems to come around again.

Good job to both you and Joanne.

Another finish for 2012, this will keep someone very warm. It's a good thing that we don't have basements here in Texas or I would have some very, very old fabric stored there. lol

Very fun! The quilting is beautiful.

It looks like some very intricate applique work. You sure can't tell from a distance that they are panels.

I have a quilt top from 1993 hanging in my closet. I started it that year for my daughter, and I look at it now and am amazed at how much the trends in fabrics have changed. It's like fashion. This quit top is all mauve and powder blue and very calico-ish. That was the height of fabric fashion then!

Oh, that's turned out nicely. And it's not as small as I thought it was.

That is a great quilt, Terry. I really need to go back into my UFO's (which are MANY) and see what might be good to finish. I fear some I will no longer like...and I guess I'll offer them on my blog and if nobody wants them, then I'll have to trash them. I hate to do that, but I need to be realistic about how many of these things I should keep and finish....especially if they no longer appeal to me.
