A new toy for me

Well, it's a new ruler, actually. I've seen this on several blogs and thought it looked cool. But I couldn't see spending money on another ruler just to cut strips. That is until I was faced with cutting three yards of fabric into strips for my sew-along quilt. So yesterday when I was in town I went to Joanne's and used my coupon and bought one. Let me tell you it was worth every penny. It took me maybe 10 minutes to cut my strips, and they're all perfect. And I've used it to subcut the strips too! So I give the Shape Cut Slotted Ruler two thumbs up. :0)

And don't forget if you're participating in the sew-along you can go HERE to post pictures of your fabric and your blocks once we start sewing. We'll make our first blocks in February so everybody get ready! :0)

Well, I'm jealous don't cha know!! I've started to buy this one sooo many times but just didn't! Wasn't sure it would work as well as I wanted it to.

Glad you like it and can give it 2 thumbs up! I'll just have to see about getting one now!!

I love mine, I stack the strips and cover the table, and whack, whack, whack, move ruler, whack, whack, whack. Then if you want squares, turn the table or walk to the end. Repeat. WaaLaah, TONS of squares.. People ask me why I don't have the strip and square cutters for the GO!, because I have this ruler, and it is faster. I save the GO! for things that have lots of curves, like the flowers etc....

Looks like a good ruler to get. Anything that makes cutting quicker is fine by me. Hugs......

I am glad it worked so well for you and now I know where I can come to cut my other strips.

I have two of those rulers and love them. They come in handy when you have lots of cutting of small pieces. I used it recently cutting over 900 pieces for a scrap quilt. I've had them for a while and didn't think about using them for the sew-a-long quilt. Stupid me!

Love my Shape Cut, although sometimes I forget to use it. Thanks for reminding me to cut my 2 1/2" strips-----got background fabric yesterday. Had to go with the second choice as Hobby Lobby didn't have enough of the other.

This ruler is so cool - I have one an use it all the time. It makes cutting strips and squares and rectangles a breeze. For anyone who doesn't have one it is a great use of a Joanns coupon!

Oh goodness, I have these and have had them for so long but never use them! LOL I guess maybe I should get them out and put them to use. I'm glad to see your review of them. Sometimes I buy rulers and gadgets and think "What did I buy this for and how do you use it?!" hahaha I'm a dork :P

I have to agree. It's one of the best tools I've purchased. Great to keep lines straight ;-)

I use mine all of the time. It is my favourite ruler. It can also cut lots of other shapes, but I have not tried those yet.

I think i need to get me one, sounds like everyone like it.When it makes cutting fabric easy ,i'm all for it.

Just read a review on line and this person said the cuts were not accurate and there was too much room between slots, I want one, but if it's not really accurate, that won't help me since that's my downfall. I was set to race out and get one until I read that, it sounds like you were totally satisfied with the accuracy of your cuts..

I love mine and I have owned several of them. The older ones had a flaw at the 12" slot and it would break. I sent two of them to June Tailor and they replaced them immediately and also changed the materials...no more breaking. Yes after a lot of use the slots do wear down...time to replace!

I have this one (love it) and I also love the one with quarter and half inch slots, and the one that has 3/8, 5/8, and 7/8 slots! These are great rulers...
