Hot Air Balloons

Every year a nearby town has a hot air balloon festival on the Fourth of July weekend, and we try to get to at least one of the flights each year. This year I had to go by myself, and while it wasn't as much fun as when one or both of the kids went along, now that they have their own lives, I guess I just have to get used to doing these things on my own. Anyway, it was a beautiful night for them to fly, and I did enjoy it. Here are a few of the pictures I took...

Kudos for you for just doing it, even though you had to go it alone!

  8. Very nice pictures, Terry. I'm so glad you still went to see the hot air balloons even though the kids had other plans. It was a beautiful night.

  9. WOW! Magnificent!! I'm glad you got out to see it! I bet it 'lifted' your spirits! Yes, it's a difficult time when the kids start going out and about without mom! You want them to be independent BUT...
We all go through it...but I think it's harder when you have girls!

  13. Love to watch hot air balloons. We went to a launch last year, and while the weather seemed perfect to us, they never did launch. Very disappointing. Will have to check for something this year.

  14. Gorgeous - I love balloon festivals. I almost got run over by one at a festival in Dallas one time. Where I worked down there, I would see this one guy taking off every single morning when I got to work, right from the field by the building. It was amazing.

  15. What city has the festival? I'd love to find a campsite nearby so we can see them next year! Do you know if they do rides as well? That's a bucket list item for me!

  18. I lived in CO for a short while a few years back and practically every morning there was at least one balloon in the sky! Loved seeing it. Then they usually had a gathering of sorts once or twice a year and did the night 'glow'. SO pretty. One day I will go for a balloon ride!!
