Painting and mulching

I've been busy since my last post. Time flies whether you're having fun or not! LOL I've repainted the spare bedroom and Emily's room. You can't tell in this photo but the walls in the spare room are a lovely tan color now. Emily's room is a darkish gray, but I don't have any photos of it. These are the new curtains I bought for the spare room, and a new bed and comforter should be here this week.

I was out pruning the forsythia a bit today and found a branch with some buds on it. It seems odd, but I've had it happen before.

I've been working some on the flowerbeds, and have the left half of the front flowerbed mulched. There are lots of flowers that will come back up in the spring, but for now it looks pretty bare. I took out our water garden by the deck too, so that's also been leveled out and mulched.

Fall is definitely in the air around here, and on the ground as well. These maple leaves are just the beginning of the colorful leaves we have to look forward to over the next few weeks.

And while I've not been actually sewing, I have been working on a new project for a friend of mine. I'm making a t-shirt quilt for her daughter. This is the first t-shirt quilt I've made, so I'm learning as I go along. I'm ready to attach the t-shirt parts to the fusible now, and then I can cut the blocks to their actual size. Once that's done I'll be adding sashing and cornerstones. I can't wait to see how it comes out. :0)

  1. Love your new background.
I love the curtains. I have also seen that in the past but have not looked at mine lately. The flowerbed looks great. The leaves are turning fast.
Can't wait to see the t-shirt quilt.

  7. You have been a busy girl. The front flower bed has been restored to order--come do mine next? *LOL*
How nice of you to make a t-shirt quilt for someone. I have a box of t-shirts I need to start cutting up to make another one. I promised one to each son when they graduated college, since they had zillions of t-shirts from all of the organizations to which they belonged. Not my favorite kind of quilt to make, so I'm stalling. Maybe you will motivate me.
Hey, wait--this means you are actually quilting again. How does it feel? : )

  10. It sounds like your creativity is happening in all sorts of places - great work getting the garden ready for winter :-) I've mostly just seen T-shirt quilts made from sports teams t's or music ones - this one looks like it will be a little different!
