November Already?

There's been a LOT going on around here lately. I won't go into all the details, but life has definitely thrown us some curves recently. This is Emily's jack-o-lantern and it perfectly describes how I've been feel for the past week and a half. Thankfully things are beginning to sort themselves out and I do see a light at the end of the tunnel, even if it is a very long tunnel! LOL

We had decided to put a new roof on our house, and we did that this weekend. Here is the before of the old shingles...they've been on the house for 18 years.

And here is the after of the new metal roof. We still have to get the spouting back up but that should be done next weekend. It looks so much better and the new roof will last so much longer than new shingles would have.

A friend of mine posted this on Facebook today, and I thought it was just perfect for me right now. Maybe for some of you too. :0)

  1. The new roof looks great. Sorry life is throwing curve balls and hope the little postie helps you in handling it all. Seems everyone in our family near and far either have the flu or one of the traveling viruses.

  2. Roof looks good! We reroofed last year and DH wanted metal, but we couldn't find anyone who knew how to put a good metal roof on a dome.
Great thought at the end, and so true. We are never in control of what comes our way (if we were I would have vetoed several things that have happened in our family the past couple of years--sounds like you can relate), but we always have a choice as to how to respond. If I could just remember that. : )

  4. Hope everything is set to rights soon. That little quote at the end really sums it all up, doesn't it?

  5. I hope the tunnel won't be as long as you are anticipating, Terry.

The new roof gives such a fresh look to the house. We just redid ours too in the hopes of a lot of rain this year. ;-)

  14. Without going into details, we have been on a health roller coaster ride for the last 15 months of our lives. Some highs but lots of lows too.

I liked the quote you posted. Here is another one that I found helpful these past months.
Don't worry about the future. The present is all thou hast. The future will soon be present and the present will soon be past.

    My thoughts are with you.

  18. I have been feeling a lot like that pumpkin lately too. Hope your tunnel is short. Your house looks terrific with the new roof. I tried to leave you a comment last week, but I couldn't do it. No idea if it will work this time. Hugs.
