Miscellaneous stuff

Is this not the cutest thing you've ever seen? My neighbors had this on their front step. I love how the mum makes it look like the jack-o-lantern has an afro! LOL

I've been thinking about getting a new bed for the spare room, and I finally took the plunge. And since I've really not been sewing, I went ahead and bought a quilt for the new bed too. I'm really pleased with how it's all come together. Pardon the boxes in the background...I've decided it's time to sort out some things to box up and some to give to goodwill. I just have too much stuff! LOL

I have been working on the t-shirt quilt. I have the blocks all ready to sew together with the sashing and cornerstones, once I'm sure what those are going to be. I need to meet with the friend I'm making the quilt for and then I can move forward with it.

Painting and mulching

I've been busy since my last post. Time flies whether you're having fun or not! LOL I've repainted the spare bedroom and Emily's room. You can't tell in this photo but the walls in the spare room are a lovely tan color now. Emily's room is a darkish gray, but I don't have any photos of it. These are the new curtains I bought for the spare room, and a new bed and comforter should be here this week.

I was out pruning the forsythia a bit today and found a branch with some buds on it. It seems odd, but I've had it happen before.

I've been working some on the flowerbeds, and have the left half of the front flowerbed mulched. There are lots of flowers that will come back up in the spring, but for now it looks pretty bare. I took out our water garden by the deck too, so that's also been leveled out and mulched.

Fall is definitely in the air around here, and on the ground as well. These maple leaves are just the beginning of the colorful leaves we have to look forward to over the next few weeks.

And while I've not been actually sewing, I have been working on a new project for a friend of mine. I'm making a t-shirt quilt for her daughter. This is the first t-shirt quilt I've made, so I'm learning as I go along. I'm ready to attach the t-shirt parts to the fusible now, and then I can cut the blocks to their actual size. Once that's done I'll be adding sashing and cornerstones. I can't wait to see how it comes out. :0)
