Memories

I was looking through some photos on my computer the other day and of course many of them were taken at the house we used to live in. Sometimes the memories of our years there make me smile and other times they make me sad. I miss so many things about living there, but it was definitely time to move on and start a new chapter in my life and I'm totally OK with that.

One new thing is my little Christmas tree. I got this alpine tree last year, and decorated it all in turquoise blue, silver and white...all new things for my new start. This year I pulled out my old ornaments and went with all red and green for my tree and I love it. It's nice to see some of my old ornaments too. The angel on the top and many of the ornaments were made by my mom over the years. I'd like to say Ava helped me decorate the tree, but she was taking off the ornaments as fast as I was putting them on. lol

I took the time this week to put together a little shadow box for Ava showing off some of the seashells she picked up at the beach in October, as well as a few pictures of her at the beach. I'm sure when she's older she'll appreciate it much more than she does now. But for the time being I can look at it and smile every time I see it and remember how much she loved the sand and the water.

  1. Memories are wonderful. We found some old VHS tapes and had them done on CD, one had our first halloween and Christmas at our house. I went with ornaments from friends this year, just a simple tree, but filled with memories of all the friends I have made over the years.

  4. Memories can be happy and sad for all of us. Love your small tree and the one you passed down to us which was smaller than the one we had which is great for our space. Ava will love the shadow box picture as she gets older and you did a great job on it.

  5. Your tree looks lovely and sometimes it's good to bring back the good memories. A catholic priest said to me shortly after hubby passed away, to remember the good and forget the bad. I guess he realized that we all have things that are better left forgotten. Last year I put up the traditional tree, this year a new Christmas tree and all new red and gold ornaments.

  7. I love memory trees, filled with ornaments made by those we love, or commemorating events in our lives. I like the tree-in-a-basket idea.
Very nice job with the shadow box. One day Ava will treasure it.

  8. Love you tree. I said to my daughter the other day that young W will have fun when tey come to visit with all the Christmas decorations to pull down. She replied to me " that is why i said we wouldn't be able to visit for a month". :) Yes everytime he come's i have to put things up but that's ok with me as it's part & parcel of having grandkids. Love the memory box. A wonderful idea. Hugs,xx
