When a dream dies

We've all been there...chasing after something we really wanted. Then in the end, there was just no way it could happen. That was me last week when I flew down to Florida for a couple of days to look for an apartment. There were lots of issues involved, but the bottom line is that as much as I love the beach, I won't be moving to Florida any time soon. It's difficult to let that dream go...I've been chasing it hard for the past two years. But the time has come and I must learn to love where I am now and make the best of it. Thankfully I can still vacation at the beach a couple of times a year. For now, that will just have to be enough. So here are a few beautiful photos from my very short trip last week. Enjoy! :0)

  1. Beautiful pictures. Just put that dream on the back burner for now, do not let it go completely.

  2. I wouldn't mind living there for a few months in the winter, getting tired of the cold, but then it would be too hot for me, lol. I wish I could move too, as we get older, our tastes and needs change, but we are stuck here for now.

  3. it's tough when that happens, but make the most of what you have at the moment and you never know what other opportunities may be waiting for you

  4. So sorry that your dream cannot be realized for now. But I love that you said "I must learn to love where I am now". So much smarter to do that than to pine away for what can't be at the moment.

  5. I like Tudy's advice to not give up on your dream just put it on the back burner for now. She is so right, you never know what the future holds. I believe that things happen for a reason and we cannot force them. You sound like you have accepted what is to be for now and that is great. I love the new blog look, by the way :)

  6. Sorry it's not working out for now, but on the bright side, You'll appreciate those visits to FLorida so much more! We've been going for a week or two in Jan/Feb and I love every minute of being there. But I wouldn't want to live there. And while I've always wanted to live at the shore, would I appreciate it as much if I was always there? I don't know.

  8. I am so sorry that you found out living here in the Sunshine state is not the right time right now--Remember I lived here for 6 years and then had to move back to NY for the next 20 years--but am now back down here for the last 2 1/2 years--but I never know when I might have to return north again at some point--so as the others have said==keep dreaming--and pat yourself on the back that you took the time, and had the money to come down and do some research--that in itself was one big step!!!
    enjoy, di

  12. It can be hard to let a dream go. My dream was to actually move out of Florida and for me that dream died a few years back. My area has become very populated and expensive. I'm not too far from the beach but we don't make it there very often anymore. I do miss when our area was quieter. At least you will still be able to enjoy beach vacations.

  14. Its always a shame when a dream fizzles... but I think you are very wise to be prepared to be content where you are for the present.... who knows what will happen in future...

  15. You never know when what you dream of can become reality. Maybe not this month, maybe in the future, something will change in your favor, so, keep this idea of a home in Florida on a low simmer...you never know. Meanwhile, I do hope you have good things keeping you happy where you are right now.

  16. Well gosh I hate to read this. I totally hate the pain of having to let go of something like this. Acceptance of where you're at is a hard road but goodness Terry, you know all about that so my friend, hold on... another dream will come, another opportunity and it may be Florida or something different. Just...well...Always Be Open to whatever may come. Someone may walk right into your life and have you living in Elko, Nv for all you know! lol (totally kidding here)
