The best laid plans

I don't think Ohio wants to let me go. After renting a house in Georgia and moving all our stuff down there, I had to find a place for us to rent here in Ohio and then move all our stuff back up here. Why you ask? Because Emily's ex-boyfriend (Ava's biological father) apparently found out Emily was planning to move so he took her to court to get visitation with Ava. Mind you he hadn't even seen her since Christmas eve. So after three hearings and a lot of money spent, we're back in Ohio for at least another year. And to make matters worse, we have to get approval from the court and Ava's dad before we can ever move. None of it makes any sense to me. The only good thing to come out of all of this is that he's going to have to pay child support every month now.

So we're getting settled into our new home. Ava has her own room now which is nice. My room is big enough to have my computer and sewing machine in which is nice too. I just need to get my sewing machine set up and get my sewing things organized and I might actually start sewing again. Don't hold your breath but that's my plan. :0)

  1. WHAT!!!!!!!!!! I've never heard of such a thing - well Terry, I'm praying you're able to get lots of vacations down to the beach...glad she at least got child support payments out of it. What a rotten development!!

  2. Sad to say, I have heard of such a thing--but I agree that the child support is a good thing! I hope he is consistent with the payments. Otherwise, I don't understand what right a man has to control the movements of a woman and child when he has shown a total lack of interest or concern for their welfare. I'll get off my soapbox now.

  4. Wow, that is awful that you were not able to live where you want, but it looks like you are making the best of it. I too hope that he follows through with the child support payments.

  6. It's always such a shame when they use a child as a pawn in the game. I hope that you will be able to get back to your sewing, Terry.

  9. I’m very sorry to hear that the fresh start for you and your family has been foiled. You must be exhausted but you seem to have kept a positive outlook. There’s always something to deal with.

  11. I feel your frustration. My daughter is going through the same. Her ex is supposed to pay child support but doesn't. He is 8.5k in arrears. There is an intervention order on him for another 4 years but he keeps breaking it. Sometimes the law sucks.

  12. Have faith that things will work out for the best in the end. The important thing is that you are all together. Get that machine set up, they say sewing can lower your blood pressure!
