Batik stars

Before I moved I decided to finally start cutting up the batik fabrics I've been collecting for years. I cut the fabric into charm squares and 2-1/2 inch squares, not having any idea of what I was going to do with them. Then the other day I saw a block online and thought I might try to use it for my batiks. I've just done one block using my charm squares. I do like it but it's quite big, finishing at 16 inches square. I think I'll keep making blocks for a while but not sure yet how big I'll make the quilt. The pattern for this block can be found HERE.

And on the home front, Emily and Ava are now living with my son and daughter-in-law about half an hour away from here. Luckily the preschool Ava was attending has a branch down there so she was able to simply transfer and didn't have to miss a single day of school. It's odd not having her here with me, as she's lived with me from almost the time she was born. But it was time for a change and I think this will be good for everyone. Time will tell. :0)

  1. I like the block! You will see changes in Ava, now that she has moved away. We all need “our” time.

  6. That is a pretty block--and even though I make many tiny things, I actually like larger blocks, too. :)
That will be a big change for you, but I hope it is good for all parties involved.
